Loose Leaf Tea Blends

Here are three loose leaf tea blends you can mix at home. Three blends above — a calming chamomile-lavender for evenings, a warming citrus spice black tea, and a caffeine-free hibiscus mint cooler. Each has adjustable batch sizing built in.

Calm Evening Chamomile Lavender Blend

A soothing evening blend to wind down with.

INGREDIENTS

• 2 tablespoons dried chamomile flowers

• 1 tablespoons dried lavender buds

• 1 tablespoons dried lemon balm

• 1 teaspoons dried spearmint leaves

STEPS

1. Combine dried herbs: In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons dried chamomile flowers, 1 tablespoons dried lavender buds, 1 tablespoons dried lemon balm, and 1 teaspoons dried spearmint leaves.

2. Mix gently: Gently toss the mixture so the ingredients distribute evenly (avoid crushing the flowers).

3. Store: Transfer to an airtight tin or glass jar with a tight lid.

4. Brew: Steep 1-2 teaspoons per cup in freshly boiled water cooled slightly, for 5-7 minutes.

NOTES

Store in an airtight tin away from light and heat; use within 6 months for best flavor. Steep 1-2 tsp of blend per cup in hot (not boiling) water for 5-7 minutes.

Citrus Spice Black Tea Blend

A bright, warming blend great for mornings or an afternoon lift.

INGREDIENTS

• 2 tablespoons loose leaf black tea

• 1 tablespoons dried orange peel

• 1 teaspoons dried ginger pieces

• 0.5 teaspoons cinnamon chips

• 2 whole cloves

STEPS

1. Combine ingredients: In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons loose leaf black tea, 1 tablespoons dried orange peel, 1 teaspoons dried ginger pieces, 0.5 teaspoons cinnamon chips, and 2 whole cloves.

2. Mix: Toss gently to distribute the spices evenly through the tea leaves.

3. Store: Store in an airtight tin, away from light and moisture.

4. Brew: Steep 1-2 teaspoons per cup in boiling water for 4-5 minutes.

NOTES

Store in an airtight tin; keeps well for up to a year since black tea and spices are shelf-stable. Great served with a splash of milk.

Hibiscus Mint Cooler Blend

A refreshing caffeine-free blend, great iced or hot.

INGREDIENTS

• 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers

• 1 tablespoons dried peppermint leaves

• 1 teaspoons dried rose hips

• 1 teaspoons dried apple pieces

STEPS

1. Combine ingredients: In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers, 1 tablespoons dried peppermint leaves, 1 teaspoons dried rose hips, and 1 teaspoons dried apple pieces.

2. Mix: Toss gently to mix evenly.

3. Store: Store in an airtight tin or jar.

4. Brew: Steep 1-2 teaspoons per cup in boiling water for 5-6 minutes. For iced tea, double the blend and cold-steep overnight in the fridge.

NOTES

Store in an airtight tin away from sunlight; use within 6-8 months. Especially good cold-brewed overnight in the fridge for iced tea.
