Oven Baked Hamburger Steaks
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef (85/15 or 80/20)
- 1 small finely minced sweet onion
- 2 large eggs lightly beaten
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce or steak sauce
- 2/3 cup panko breadcrumbs OR fresh breadcrumbs
- 1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp granulated garlic or garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Gravy:
- 3 Tbsp unsalted butter or salted butter
- 3 Tbsp all purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth or beef stock
- 1/4 tsp each salt and black pepper adjust amount to taste
- chopped fresh parsley for garnishing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly spray a 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl combine the ground beef, onion, eggs, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 6 oval-shaped patties and place them in the prepared baking dish.
- Transfer to the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until cooked through and juices have run clear and collected in the pan.
- Transfer the hamburger steaks to a plate and tent loosely with foil to keep warm.
- On the stovetop in a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour, stirring to combine for 1-2 minutes.
- Whisk in pan dripping and beef stock. Add salt and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer then lower the heat and let bubble and thicken for 5 minutes.
- Return the hamburger steaks to the baking dish and spoon the gravy over the top.
- Sprinkle the top with fresh parsley and serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the gravy.
