Hamburger Helper Stroganoff
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces wide egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef with the diced onion over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Add the minced garlic to the pot. Cook for 30-60 seconds until you can smell the garlic.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook for another 3-4 minutes until they release their moisture.
- Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, paprika, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then add the egg noodles. Stir to ensure noodles are submerged.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream until well combined.
- Let stand for 5 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.
- Stir in chopped parsley and serve hot.
