Hawaiin Roll Chili Cheese Dogs

Ingredients:

  •  -lb lean ground beef
  • 8 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup Coca-Cola
  •  Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp dried minced onion flakes
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 12 little smokies
  • 1 (12-ct) package Hawaiian rolls
  •  cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • Cook ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
  • Add tomato paste, garlic cloves, Worcestershire sauce, Coca-Cola, chili powder, minced onion, and cayenne pepper to the pan - season with salt and black pepper. Stir to combine and simmer over medium heat for 5-10 minutes, until bubbly. Remove from the heat.
  • Using a long serrated knife, make a shallow cut along the top of each row of rolls at a 45-degree angle—don’t slice all the way through. Then go back and make another cut at the opposite angle to create a V-shaped groove down the center. Gently pull out the cut pieces. You’ll end up with rolls that look like split-top hot dog buns. Nestle a little smokie into each groove
  • Spread the chili over the sausages and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 10 -15 minutes, until warm and the cheese has melted. Garnish with your favorite toppings.
