BASE:
2 C rice
1C thin pasta (vermicelli) broken into 1/2 in pieces
SEASONING:
CHICKEN RICE A RONI: (Makes the equivalent of 3 boxes) 2 cups rice 1 cup vermicelli or thin spaghetti, broken into small pieces 2 tbsp parsley 1/2 tsp pepper 3 tbsp chicken bouillon 1 tsp onion powder 1 tsp garlic powder 2 tbsp butter or oil and 2 cups broth or water (When ready to cook) Mix the rice and pasta and add it to your jar. Mix up the seasonings and add them to a small ziploc bag. add the seasoning "packet" to the jar. See below for cooking instructions.
BEEF RICE A RONI: (Makes the equivalent of 3 boxes) 2 cups rice 1 cup vermicelli or thin spaghetti, broken into small pieces 2 tbsp parsley 1/2 tsp pepper 3 tbsp beef broth 1 tsp onion powder 1 tsp garlic powder 2 tbsp butter or oil and 2 cups broth or water (When ready to cook) Mix the rice and pasta and add it to your jar. SPANISH RICE A RONI: (Makes the equivalent of 3 boxes) 2 cups rice 1 cup vermicelli or thin spaghetti, broken into small pieces 1 tsp salt 1 tsp minced onion 2 tbsp tomato bouillon 1/2 tsp chili powder 2 tbsp butter or oil and 2 cups broth or water (when ready to cook) Mix the rice and pasta and add it to your jar. Mix up the seasonings and add them to a small ziploc bag. add the seasoning "packet" to the jar. See below for cooking instructions.
TO COOK ANY OF THE FLAVORS: Melt 2 tbsp of butter (or heat 2 tbsp oil). Add in 1 cup of the rice/pasta mix and cook for a couple of minutes until it's as browned as you want it. Add the broth or water. For the chicken or beef, add in 2 tbsp of the seasoning mix. For the Spanish rice, add in about 1 1/2 tbsp of the seasoning mix. Bring it to a boil then cover and reduce the heat to a simmer. Let it simmer for 15 minutes. It is done when the liquid is absorbed and the rice is done.
