Italian Meat Sliders
Ingredients and Directions: PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 degrees (F)
1.) 12 pack Hawaiian style rolls, cut in half for sandwiches
2.) Then add your "Inside Sauce" *I had forgotten to do this first before laying down meat, so it was done last)
Ingredients for Inside Sauce:
1/3 C Honey Mustard OR 2 Tbs Dijon Mustard and 1 Tbs Horseradish
3/4 C Mayo
3.) Next start layering your meats
Suggested Italian-style Meats:
12 pack Prosciutto or Pancetta
(I used Pancetta because I had some that had been donated-make sure it is well cooked)
12 large pepperoni slices (didn't add because our turkey pepperoni is too spicy for my youngest )
12 large Salami slices (did not have so I did without)
12 pieces thin slices rare roast beef
12 pieces thin slices sweet type ham (I used Black Forest)
12-14 slices Mozzarella cheese slices-thin OR 1 C freshly shredded Mozzarella
Put Tops On and Brush or Spoon on Topping Sauce
For Topping:
4 oz melted butter (I used salted because that is what I had)
1 Tbs granulated garlic powder (Can also use minced garlic)
1/8 - 1/2 tspn horseradish
1/2 TBS Dijon mustard
1 Tbs Italian Seasoning (I substituted with an all purpose seasoning)
1 Tbs poppy seeds (we do not like them so I never add them)
1/3 C grated Parmesan Cheese
Mix all ingredients together in the melted butter and stir between brushing or spooning to make sure all ingredients stay well blended.
Place uncovered in preheated 350 degrees (F) oven and bake for 10-15 minutes until tops are golden brown and cheese is melted. Allow to set for 5-6 minutes before cutting and serving. Enjoy!
Ranch Meatballs:
1 lb ground sausage
1 lb ground beef
1 room temperature raw egg- scrambled before adding to meat mix
1/3 C buttermilk Ranch dry mix (I accidentally said 1 TBSN - that was incorrect)
1/2 C Panko bread crumbs or whatever type you prefer
1 tspn ground pepper
Mix just until seasonings ,bread crumbs and egg are all blended into meat - do NOT over mix meat!
* I decided to make Ranch Honey Mustard Sliders instead so I added 1/2 C diced red bell peppers and 1/2 C diced yellow bell peppers and folded into meat mix. I then browned meat until it was lightly crispy and no longer pink.
Make Honey Mustard Inside Mix (See "Inside Sauce Mix" Recipe Above) in Italian Meat Slider Recipe
Slather Honey Mustard Mix on bottom roll then spoon browned meat mix onto roll then cover with shredded or sliced cheese of choice - we used Pepper Jack cheese slices
Bake uncovered for 15 minutes in preheated 350 degree (F) oven or until cheese is melted and tops are lightly browned to your preference. Remove from oven and allow to set 4-5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Spicy Pigs in Blankets - Preheat oven to temperature stated on crescent roll package
1.) Cut Jalapeño Cheddar Sausages in half
2.) Lightly brown in pan just to give a little color then set aside to cool to touch.
3.) Unwrap the crescent dough in half so the fat side and triangular sides are apart.
4.) Wrap each sausage half completely in crescent dough so only ends are poking out.
5.) Brush on melted butter to each "blanket" and place 1/2 inch apart on baking sheet
6.) Place in preheated oven and cook for time on crescent roll package.
7.) Allow to cool 2-3 minutes before gently removing from cookie/baking sheet and arranging in a circle on serving tray/plate. Serve with dipping sauce such as the honey mustard dip, ranch dip, BBQ sauce-whatever your heart desired!
